Why Linux
Linux is a free operating system originally created by Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers around the world. Linux is developed under GNU Public License. Linux provides an excellent base to work from for several reasons, and although it is not perfect, we believe it is the best place to start. Linux is free and open. It makes it easier for people to get involved in the development process.
Linux is one of the more stable operating systems available today that you never see your systems crash even after several years. Reliability is because of the two mature program packaging standards in Linux World, Debian and Red Hat. Both have their own packaging systems and both will check dependencies. Linux is Network friendly and is capable of acting as client and/or server to any of the popular operating systems in use today, and is quite capable of being used to run Internet Service Providers. Linux supports most of the major protocols. Linux is a multi-user and multi-tasking system. It is capable of managing the traffic though one user is running many programms or many users are running one program. Linux supports older hardware.
